Cheryl Ladd is the daughter of Dolores (nee Katz), who worked as a waitress, and Marion Stoppelmoor, a railroad engineer.

After finishing high school, she joined the band The Music Shop and played at various venues across the Midwest before eventually settling down in Los Angeles in 1970.

During high school, she was a standout cheerleader and worked as a waitress at a local diner. Ladd’s striking beauty was already evident when she was in her teens. Instead of staying in her hometown, she decided to move to Hollywood to pursue a music career.

She originally came to Hollywood to start a music career known as Cherie Moor when she was singing the voice of Melody on Hanna-Barbera’s animated series Josie and the Pussycats.

However, Ladd soon landed non-singing roles in commercials and episodic television, including guest appearances on shows such as The Partridge Family, The Rookies, Police Woman, The Muppet Show, and Happy Days.

Her career breakthrough came in 1977 when she was cast in the ABC series Charlie’s Angels, replacing actress Farrah Fawcett, who left the show after only one season to pursue a film career. She remained in the series until its cancellation in 1981.

Her film credits include Purple Hearts, Millennium, Poison Ivy, Permanent Midnight, and Unforgettable. On April 17, 2010, she accepted the TV Land Pop Culture Award for her Charlie’s Angels work.

She has continued appearing in several TV productions, including the Hallmark Channel movie Love’s Everlasting Courage in 2011.

Aside from taking roles in TV shows and movies, Cheryl Ladd also plays a big part in raising awareness of important issues like cataracts and surgery.

After her husband underwent cataract surgery, she used her widespread platform to educate others about the procedure.
