She is an American visual artist who examines language and written texts through drawing, painting, sculpture, video, and other media. Grant uses language and exchanges with authors as a source of work. She examines the process of ideas and writing based on linguistic theory as it links to art and creates visual images. She had her first exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Los Angeles in 2007. In 2009, she met an actor Keanu Reeves at a social event. This led her to Ode to Happiness, published by Gerhard Steidl in 2011. It was her first artist book and collaboration with Reeves’ first book as a writer. Grant and Reeves reunited for their second book, Shadows, in 2016. The following year she, alongside designer Jessica Fleischmann and Keanu Reeves, founded a small publishing company named X Artists Books, sometimes abbreviated XAB.
